Columbia Care expands mid-Atlantic reach

Last week, Columbia Care became the first publicly traded MSO to hold both cultivation and processing licenses in West Virginia. This new development furthers the company’s mission to use its scale and infrastructure to develop operations throughout the mid-Atlantic region.

The Mountain State awarded just 10 processing licenses, via lottery. Columbia Care’s CEO, Nicholas Vita, seemed elated on the win, beaming about how “proud, grateful, and honored” the company is to receive these coveted licenses from the West Virginia Office of Medical Cannabis.

Columbia Care is now one of five licensed operators to begin offering cannabis access to patients throughout the state. It has fully integrated facilities, including a a recently-completed 65,000 square-foot Portsmouth facility, and will offer statewide home delivery. The company plans on adding up to five more dispensaries to serve the eastern, coastal Hampton Bays/Norfolk greater metro area by the end of 2020.

The news of the company’s success in expanding its operations into West Virginia came soon after it announced some impressive third quarter financial and operating results.
