Need some listening material? Five cannabis industry podcasts to check out

Plug ‘em in when you drive to your next meeting or take them with you as you walk on your lunch break. Podcasts can be a great way to give your eyes a rest while staying on top of your industry. Here are our picks for some cannabis industry podcasts that are worth your time.

NCIA Cannabis Industry Voice

For general news and insights into the cannabis industry, The National Cannabis Industry Association runs an in-depth yet approachable podcast that features a variety of guests with first-hand knowledge of the industry. Hosted by Bethany Moore, NCIA’s Deputy Director of Communications, the podcast covers cannabis news, from sustainable packaging to SEO practices, social equity, banking, and more.

Recent episodes have featured discussions about social equity delivery businesses with Colorado’s Better Days Delivery, insights into extractions with Dominick Monaco of City Trees, and a feature on Tucky Blunt from Blunts + Moore in Oakland.

The Cannabis Investing Podcast

Interested in cannabis investing? The topic often flies over my head, but something about this woman-hosted podcast makes it easy to stick around and listen. Renee Sherbill hosts with a professional, snappy tone that suits the subject matter without ever feeling dry or boring. She lends context while having informative conversations with executives, analysts, and sector experts.

Recent guests include Alisia Ratliff, CEO of Victus Capital Ventures discussing European cannabis markets, Jay Czarkowski of Canna Advisors discussing why he’s betting on northeast cannabis markets over California, and investor Nick Gastevich sharing his thoughts on recent consolidations, earnings, and effects from macro pressures.

In the Weeds with Jimmy Young

After hosting an award-winning sports talk show, Jimmy Young went on to form Pro Cannabis Media and its fun extension, In the Weeds. Young dives into all things cannabis with a variety of industry guests, including Steve DeAngelo, Tommy Chong, Bruce Linton, and even our own George Jage.

Young brings clarity to difficult-to-grasp subjects (like cryptocurrency in the March 2nd episode) with the help of knowledgeable guests and an easy, conversational style. He covers business, politics, law, investing, medicine, and anything else relevant to industry insiders.

The latest episodes feature Eric Robichaud, CEO of Green Goddess Supply, talking about smell-free indoor growing, Vincent Mosca of ATMPRos on financial logistics, and a conversation with Brandon Dorskey of Fruit Slabs

The North American Weed Tour

Lifestyle, music, and cannabis culture platform Respect My Region hosts a fun cannabis podcast called the North American Weed Tour. It’s fast-paced, it’s snappy, and it features a lot of interesting voices. The podcast looks at medical and recreational cannabis across North America, with insights from guests across the industry.

Mitch Pfeifer, the mind behind Respect My Region, is a solid podcast host with a knack for relating to the audience and interviewee. Episodes have featured discussions with Jon Bon from Dutchie, Bill and Jeff Levers of Beard Bros Pharms, Zack Hirschfield of Timeless Vapes, and many other interesting players in cannabis.

Great Moments in Weed History

For a less industry-focused, weed-forward podcast, check out Great Moments in Weed History. It’s hosted by Abdullah Saeed and David Bienenstock, who you may remember from Bong Appétit.

While the podcast goes down 10,000+ years of cannabis history, it also stays relevant to today’s world. Recent episodes have covered topics like how to get a job in weed, how to save small weed farms, and current political conversations.

The podcast is a good mix of fun conversations with beloved stoners like Willie Nelson and David Crosby and important history lessons like the episode about Billie Holiday vs. Harry J. Anslinger.
