The future is here. Uber Eats has partnered with Leafly to bring cannabis delivery to Toronto, marking the first time weed delivery has been available through a major third-party platform.
Anyone nineteen or older can open the app and place an order just as they’d request food from a restaurant. Deliveries will only be made by staff members of the cannabis retailers, however, not independent Uber Eats drivers. Additionally, customers will have to verify their age and sobriety before they can place an order.
The new partnership is starting with three retailers: Hidden Leaf Cannabis, Minerva Cannabis, and Shivaa’s Rose. “We are a small business and this partnership is a great way for us to expand our reach and grow our business across the city,” said Hidden Leaf owners Marissa and Dale Taylor.
This is not the first time Uber’s cozied up to Canada cannabis. The company previously partnered with an Ontario retailer allowing customers to make online orders, though they’d have to pick up the order themselves.
“We are thrilled to work with Uber Eats to help licensed retailers bring safe, legal cannabis to people across the city,” said Leafly CEO Yoko Miyashita.
