“Nobody should have to go to jail for smoking weed,” Kamala Harris tells late-night host Seth Meyers

Following Biden’s announcement of plans to review the scheduling of cannabis, Vice President Kamala Harris took to Late Night with Seth Meyers to back up his intentions.

In her first late-night interview since taking office, Harris said the White House will continue to push for governors to pardon incarcerated citizens for marijuana possession. She also added that Congress needs to create a “uniform approach” to the plant.

“We are twenty-nine days away from the midterms. Ask who you’re voting for, where they stand on this, and I encourage you to vote accordingly,” she told the Late Night host.

Harris has received plenty of scrutiny in the past for her role in nearly 2,000 convictions for cannabis-related offenses. But she made her current stance clear on the television show, saying that “nobody should have to go to jail for smoking weed.”
