Ten cannabis profiles that will light up your Instagram

The world of cannabis continues to grow exponentially, and so do the influencers and companies that are shaping the social media presence of cannabis online. The themes represented within the profiles below are becoming more and more important to understand in the larger context of cannabis. From established voices to newcomers, this list is a round up of cannabis influencers who are offering quality content while cultivating inclusive communities.

Chef Steph @HighlyFavored_Steph

This self-taught chef cooks up cannabis infused food for delivery in Chicago, New Orleans, and Seattle while causing major FOMO among those of us outside those cities. Her instagram feed is drool-worthy (double fried hot wings, lemon sesame noodle bowl, fig and pomegranate, glazed short rib, strawberry shortcake cheesecake), interspersed with content centering on black joy, community building, dismantling white supremacy, farm to table culture, and life as a cannabis user. Food can be ordered through Pearle’s Kitchen, a password protected platform that features only black and allied women-led businesses.

Sue @RancheraMami

Sue is the cultivator, owner, and geneticist behind Ranchera Familia boutique cannabis farm. Her unapologetically sexy and funny feed is a tribute to latine farmers and cannabis users, cultivating an online community with humor and education. Even virtually, her personality sparkles, empowering communities of color as an outspoken and successful latina cannabis farm owner.

Savina @SavinaMonet

Savina is a chicana freelance cannabis artist working with diverse-owned companies to create unique visual content. She is also a co-founder of the nonprofit Cannabis Workers Coalition and We Are Mota, both of which seek to empower, protect, and educate people in the cannabis space. Her page is full of colorful cannabis-themed eye candy, with sales, activism opportunities, and education in her highlights.

Mary Pryor @IAmMaryPryor

Mary Pryor is the co-founder of Cannaclusive, and an all around powerhouse activist in the cannabis industry. Her page integrates cannabis into larger discussions around wellness, mental health, and social equity. The candid tone and whole-person content is refreshing, reminding us by example that cannabis activism can be part of overall messaging and advocacy for health and justice for all.

HiVi @Hivi.Life

This online community is focused on de-stigmatizing cannabis while providing general canna-education and tips about self care and wellness. The focus is on amplifying BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ people and creating a safe space for all. Their highlights and click-through links are full of resources for people who want help starting their cannabis wellness journey, including a quiz to help figure out goals and first steps.

Regenerative Cannabis Farming @RegenerativeCannabisFarming

While farmers may seem to pale in comparison to other flashy cannabis celebrities, interest in the people behind the plants is on the rise and this page documents why regenerative farming practices is one of the hottest growing topics in cannabis–and for good reason. The feed features farmers and farms with regenerative practices, including winners of various regional awards like the Cultivation Classic from Oregon and The Emerald Cup in California.

Black Dragon Breakfast Club @BlackDragonBreakfastClub

Black Dragon Breakfast Club is geared toward helping BIPOC and women reclaim agency in the world of cannabis through education and community. The content is meaningful with a heavy dose of real-ness, focused on accountability, marketing solutions, and best business practices for people working in cannabis. The page is intentionally inclusive, with a black and female first policy.

CageFreeCannabis @CageFreeCannabis

An impressive resource for education and calls to action to repair the damage done by the War on Drugs, Cage Free Cannabis offers a welcome dose of history and accountability. This page could be considered a crash course in cannabis (in)justice for those who want to take the time to self-educate and/or help spread knowledge. While focused on cannabis issues, the content includes related and intersectional themes.

Turtle Island Cannabis @TurtleIslandCannabis

First Nation and Native communities have a complex relationship with cannabis, even as prohibition starts to end in North America. This community resource offers consulting and connection to Haudenosaunee cannabis entrepreneurs and recommendations for consumers. Their content features quality over quantity, and most of their activity happens in the impermanent stories. This profile offers a way to support and stay informed on the under-represented native perspective of the evolving cannabis industry.

Miyabe Shields @MiyabePHD

Miyabe is a scientist with over a decade of experience in cannabinoid research. Their page features fun and easy to understand cannabis education. Many of the videos feature three-dimensional models of cannabinoid molecules and breakdowns of how they work with the human body. MiyabePHD provides an in-road to cannabis for those that want to understand it from a perspective that is firmly rooted in science.
