ICYMI: This week in weed news 10/14

What’s the latest in cannabis news? From new consumption lounge license applications to dispensaries for sale, here are the top stories of the week.

It’s happening. Nevada consumption lounge license applications are officially open. The Nevada Cannabis Compliance Board began accepting applications this morning and will close the window on October 27th. Existing retailers can apply for one lounge license category to add onto their current operations. Independent lounges can also enter into an agreement with a retailer to purchase and prepare products to sell. Regulators are currently authorized to issue up to twenty licenses, with half dedicated to social equity applicants.

The WeedTube is expanding into a full social media suite. The 18+ social network, Pipeline, allows users to post pictures, Tik Tok-style short videos, text updates, links, and articles related to marijuana and mushrooms.

Farmhouse is putting its downtown LA dispensary up for sale. The deal comes with four licenses for retail, distribution, cultivation, and manufacturing. Any takers?

Colorado cannabis sales numbers continue to decline. Both medical and recreational cannabis sales have dipped, with the state expected to collect $100 million less in tax revenue this year. The Department of Revenue reported a twenty-two percent decrease in sales this August from the previous year.

Dasheeda Dawson has been appointed as the founding director of the Cannabis NYC initiative. Dawson will lead the Small Business Services’ (SBS) strategy to support the new industry through “widespread public education, direct services to cannabis entrepreneurs and professionals, legislative advocacy, and policy development at all levels of government,” according to the press release.
